Track 13 from ALTER-NATION’s “Change The System!” multimedia CD, a classic, eclectic rock opera album following characters through one single day of the modern human experience.
It’s almost the end of the work day and the characters were just remembering a calming bit of music from the Alter-Nation concept album, a 6/8 song called Normal (part 1), which provoked images of peaceful vistas and soothing lullabies.
But then the stark reality of the work environment around them, and the unavoidable commute home which is about to begin, reminds them once again about the world they live in, and the fact that they must inevitably confront that world every day of their life. That makes them ask, “If this is all ‘normal’, then why should I choose to be normal?”
Across this rock opera’s 33 conceptual tracks, important themes are explored which are common to every young person’s life in the U.S., in fact, the world.
Most musical tracks within the album are preceded by an interstitial audio track driving the narrative, as heard within the present environment(s) of the main character(s).
